What to Watch For: Getting out to a Quick Start

Sorry that this is late, but I’ve been getting ready for a trip to New York this weekend.

What to watch for in tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings:

  1. Jon Quick – Quick is off to a 9-3-2 start, and has appropriately helped the Kings off to a quick start in the West.  A lot of people thought that they would make noise in the Pacific this year, and they have certainly proven that they can do that.
  2. Anze Kopitar – Kopitar is the league leading scorer, and has found instant chemistry with Ryan Smyth.
  3. Ryan Smyth – The Kings Power Play is deadly, and Smyth’s ability to touch twine is a large reason why.
  4. Kris Letang – Coming off of his first goal of the season, how will he move forward as a part of the Penguins’ offense?
  5. Jordan Staal – Staal hasn’t scored in 9 games, and he is certainly due to make some noise.
  6. Rob Scuderi – Scuds was “The Piece” of the Penguins Stanley Cup Championship team.  The familiar face will play the Pens for the first time since signing with the Kings in free agency.
